Recent Blue Sapphire Stakes results
- 2022: Grand Impact cruises to victory in Blue SapphireThe Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained Grand Impact (+380) has taken out the Blue Sapphire Stakes over 1200m at Caulfield. Grand Impact crossed from barrier eight to sit outside Daumier (+750), who lead the nine horse field up to the turn, but when Daumier started to give ground as they rounded the turn it left Grand Impact in front a long way from home. However, it didn’t matter as this son of Saltono Aladdin took off and kicked clear to record an easy 1.75-length victory over Shalailed (+2500), with Lofty Strike (+650) running home strongly to claim third.
- 2021: Extreme Warrior blows his rivals away in Blue Sapphire
Extreme Warrior (+380) upstaged his more-fancied stablemate Profiteer (+220) to bolt away with the Group 3 Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield. After the race favourite led the race, Zac Spain pushed the button on his colt and he raced straight past the leader to put the race away by the 150m mark. On the line, Extreme Warrior held a 3.5-length margin over Profiteer, who himself held a 3.25-length advantage over third horse Minsk Moment (+280).
- 2020: Ranting causes boilover in tiny Blue Sapphire fieldThe 2020 Blue Sapphire Stakes featured the smallest field in the history of the race, where three runners competed in the $400,000 feature. The Leon & Troy Corstens-trained Ranting (+1000) went into the race as the outsider of the small field; however, after travelling three-wide outside his two rivals, he was the strongest at the end of the race. Anders (-285.71) led the trio for most of the contest, with Hanseatic (+290) settling in the middle, but it would be the roughie Ranting who would finish over the top of the favoured runners late and win.
- 2019: Anaheed proves too classy in Blue Sapphire Stakes victoryA peach of a ride from Damian Lane has seen the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Anaheed (+650) claim the Group 3 Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield. After settling behind the leaders, Lane waited for them to leave the rail so that he could save all the ground along the inside. When he went for his filly, she took off and found the lead over Lil Kontra (+1300) and Brooklyn Hustle (+700) and kept them at bay in the final 200m to record an easy one-length victory.
